We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Glad You Asked: Wild Child, Soul Night and The Casualties

Dear GYA, Yes, David Blaine is amazing. His new show is amazing; everything about David Blaine is amazing. But for the love of god, stop calling what he does magic tricks. They're illusions, damn it. Tricks are something whores do for money. Anything happening tonight as mesmerizing as a David Blaine illusion? - Gob Bluth---

Gob, I have to agree, David Blaine is pretty good. Holding your breath under water is an amazing "illusion." Here's what's up for tonight:

If you're into funky evenings that revolve around 45- and 33-inch vinyl, check out Soul Night at Urban Lounge. The party starts at 9. There's a $5 cover.

Indie-folk band Wild Child will be at Kilby Court. Strong Words is also on the bill. The show starts at 7. Tickets are $10.

Punk band The Casualties will be onstage at The Project. Negative Approach and MDC are also performing. The show starts at 6:30. Tickets are $12.
