Dear GYA, As a 35 year old man who's heyday was set to the carefree melodies of ska music, I'm little concerned that today's youth doesn't know jack sit about skankin. You know, plaid pants, Doc Martins, skipping around in a mosh pit while you think how much you hate your parents? Anyways, anything happening this weekend that will allow me to show these little dorks how to skank? - Mack Postal, Rose Park 

Mack, asserting your dominance in the skank-pit is not only your duty, it is your calling. Here's what's going down this weekend: 

Friday's events: 

Ska-core band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones will be playing at The Depot tonight. Show Me Island and Interrupters will open up. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. 



The Craft Lake City DIY Festival will be going down at the Gallivan Center Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Admission is free! 

Ben Kweller will be on stage at Urban Lounge. Will Sartain is also on the bill. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. 

Local rap group Dine Krew will be at Kilby Court for the Arizona Mixtape Release Party. Jay Citrus, Saner.One, Adub, Cohen and Concept are also performing. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6.  

Saturday's Events: 

Monster truck rally alert! The Maverik Center will be hosting the annual Clash of the Titans Figure-8 Monster Truck Show! The carnage starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are $22.50. 

The Pickin' at Park City: A Bluegrass, Brews & BBQ Fest will be going down at Park City Mountain Resort featuring music from Lash Larue, Cold Creek and The Travelin' McCourys. The hootin' and hollerin' starts at 3 p.m. Admission is free! 

Comedian Bill Maher will be at Kingsbury Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $55. 

Folk band Run River North will be at Kilby Court. Hectic Hobo will warm it up. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10. 

The Ben Folds Orchestra Experience will be at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $42. 

Sunday: 

Tonight is Funk and Soul Night at Bourbon House with DJ Street Jesus. The music starts at 9 p.m. There's no cover. 

Tracey Aviary will be hosting the Second Sunday Music Series today at noon. Tickets prices vary

Geeks Who Drink pub trivia will be going down at Piper Down tonight at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free! 

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be performing with Galactic tonight at Red Butte Garden. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $38.
