If by now - New Year's Eve - you're still deciding which bubbly to pour to help ring in 2015, here's a terrific option: Chandon Extra-Dry Riche, from California.

This is a real crowd-pleaser. Despite the "Extra-Dry" label, It's actually off-dry (meaning, slightly sweet), which makes it appealing to sip by itself and perfect for a midnight toast.

The wine is brimming with honeyed fruit flavors, especially apricot and mandarins, combined with a velvety texture that coats the palate. It's a good partner for foods ranging from sushi and spicy dishes to rich ones like foie gras or country pate.

I simply like to serve Chandon Extra-Dry Riche as an aperitif to guests as they arrive for New Year's Eve festivities, or any other time for that matter.

Happy New Year!
