On Thursday, April 30th, at 6:30 PM Martine Cafe will host a wine tasting featuring three unique family-owned wine producers from Spain. The tastings will be accompanied with small plate "bites" provided by Chef Tom Grant and a full menu will also be available.

On hand for the evening will be Certified Specialist of Wine Scott Slobin of the Winebow Group - Mundo Vino.

The cost for the wine tasting and bites is a mere $18 per person.

The three wines being featured will be:

Juve y Camps Cava: A family-owned winery located in San Sadurní d’Anoia, a small town in the northeastern Penedès region. Reserva de la Familia is the flagship cuvée of the estate winery. In the beginning days of their winemaking, the Juvé y Camps family had their own reserve of this Cava, and it is still the only Brut Nature that they make. Made from the free run juice of traditional varieties Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada and a touch of Chardonnay, this is the Cava of choice of Spain’s royal family.

Finca Montepodroso Verdejo: Finca Montepedroso was founded in 2010 by La Familia Martínez Bujanda, a family-owned collection of wineries that dates back to 1889. This wine is made from 100% estate-grown Verdejo fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness. Finca Montepedroso is at once a fresh and intense wine, showcasing the true varietal character of the Verdejo grape.

Marques de Grinon Caliza: These wines are sourced from the prized Dominio de Valdepusa vineyard in Castilla-La Mancha. "Caliza" means limestone in Spanish, used in naming this wine so as to pay homage to the unique soil profile at this estate. The moderate layer of clay topsoil over rocky limestone leads to elegantly structured wines. Caliza is a blend of Syrah and Petit Verdot which are fermented in stainless steel followed by one year in new and second passage French oak.

This should be a fun, inexpensive evening that is sure to sell out.
