The weekend may be jam-packed with events and festivals across the valley, but there's still music to be heard, and at least one release show this Saturday. We'll start with the online releases, and the first comes to us from Angel Magic. This is an SLC synthpop duo featuring Andrew Aguilera (Mooninite) and singer Lauren Smith, which sounds absolutely awesome if you ever get the chance to see them live. The pair just released an album of demos from the past four years titled 2012 - 2015, as they prepare to release their first official album in the fall. While we're talking about duos, we have the debut album from a band simply called Two. This is an acoustic project featuring Provo musicians Stuart Wheeler and Jesse Quebbeman-Turley, focused more on dueling vocals and harmonies with a touch of the experimental and spoken word. The duo just released their debut self-titled album through the Dirty Provo label, which you can download for whatever you'd like to pay on Bandcamp.


Switching up to harder material, we have the debut release from Ogden-based band Hemwick. This is another duo, comprised of Riachle Child and Jaxon Harrop, who have gone out of their way to not be involved with any kind of promotion or social media, and instead are making sure the music speaks for itself. Their debut EP, Involuntary Unearthing, is a glorious fast-paced combination of math rock and metal; I highly recommend at least listening to it. You can download it for $7 off their Bandcamp page.


The last of the online releases comes to us from yet another duo, this one being an alternative band Soft Limbs. This particular band features Alex Duran and Curtis Pettygrove, who have put together an eclectic sound that features some avant-garde elements mixed in with new wave. Their debut EP, Major St. Sessions, captures the best elements of both men at their creative best, along with bassist Greg Swainston to add a little something special. You can download the EP for $5 on their Bandcamp page.


Finally, we get to the one release show of the week, from the band The Beginning At Last, a four-piece rap/rock band from SLC featuring members Andrew Boss, Kevin Crocheron, Brian Lantz and Eric Wolcott. Their music sounds like a combination of MC Chris and old-school Korn, very unapologetic in the lyrics and riffy in the backing music. The band has had two prior albums released in the past four years, along with a small collection of singles; their self-titled album will mark their third full-length. You can snag a copy of it tonight at The Complex as the band plays with Poon Hammer, PlanetRAWK and Seven Second Memory opening the show. This is an all-ages show for $10 ($12 at the door), with doors opening at 7 p.m.
