The web-slinger returns (again) to multiplexes, along with an off-beat romantic comedy and a pair of historical dramas.

Comedian Kumail Nanjani's real-life romance inspires the unique relationship comedy in The Big Sick (pictured).  Jai Courtney can't provide the nuance needed as a morally-conflicted WWII-era German army officer in The Exception.

David Riedel finds the fact-based story of a plot to resolve the Northern Irish "Troubles" bogged down in contrivance and weak characterizations in The Journey.

In this week's feature review, Spider-Man: Homecoming  validates another new reboot by remembering the high-school roots of its hero.
