It’s time for spring cleaning, and while your biggest eyesores might be dust bunnies, the most toxic mess hiding in your abode are likely old electronics. This weekend, you’ll want to pedal downtown for the Utah Bike Summit, then responsibly recycle your e-waste at a special drop-off event. Later in the week, you can start submitting entries to a community civil-rights writing project.

Electronic Waste Recycling Event
Saturday, April 30
It’s time for all electronics hoarders to take advantage of the opportunity to responsibly recycle old cell phones, computers, and other gizmos. Come drop off your e-waste, and you can be sure the products’ toxic cadmium, lead and other substances don’t leak into groundwater drinking sources. The event is free, with e-waste recycling sponsored by local retailer Simply Mac. A drop-off location will be at the University of Utah for Salt Lake City residents, with another location in West Valley and two locations in Utah Valley.
Merrill Engineering Parking Lot, 72 S. Central Campus Drive, University of Utah, 801-308-1358, April 30, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit SimplyMac.com/Recycle for all locations.
