The Jim Sumpter Show (JimSumpterShow.com) is broadcast from downtown Salt Lake City and currently syndicated to 27 national markets (including Washington, D.C.; heard locally on K-Talk 630 AM, 11 p.m. weeknights and 10 a.m. Sundays). He’s Mormon, he’s conservative, and he has at least five opinions:
nnIs there a difference between Utah Republicans/Democrats and regular Republicans/Democrats?
nnYes. Utah Republicans are in two camps: those who do what the party tells them and those who don’t. In other states, there are those who love George Bush and those who are disappointed in him. Sadly, modern-era Republicans have decided to march in the footsteps left in front of them by Mr. Bush. Of course, Democrats, regardless of their state of residence, are in a state of denial.
nnLiberals seem to have strongholds in every facet of the media but talk radio'why is that?
nnThere’s a creativity to radio liberals just don’t understand. Because of the uniqueness and perceived personal relationship with the host, there’s a magnetism/repulsion to talk radio that creates superstars if you learn and master a very simple concept: Entertain first, proselytize second. Besides, liberals don’t get that it’s only radio.
nnHave you ever read your horoscope?
nnYes'it said, “You have a voice for newspaper and a face for radio.”
nnWhich is a worse news source: The O’Reilly Factor or The Daily Show With Jon Stewart?
nnO’Reilly. I think Jon Stewart is more in search of the truth, even though I don’t agree with his politics. O’Reilly is an expert at what he pretends to decry: He’s a spinmeister.
nnDo talk-radio hosts have groupies?
nnHottest 75-year-olds on the planet!
