America's Freedom Festival/Stadium of Fire

Friday July 2, Saturday July 3 & Monday July 5

Never mind that 24th of July festivities often trump July 4 festivities for enthusiasm and participation: Utah County still loves to get its patriotic groove on. And the annual Freedom Festival and Stadium of Fire is still the state’s big draw for celebrating Independence Day with a bang.

On Friday, Saturday and the holiday-observed Monday (most municipalities are taking Sunday off from celebrating), downtown Provo hosts the booths and activities of Freedom Days. Orem’s Scera Park offers a series of unique events re-creating a Continental Congress, or exploring the Ellis Island immigrant experience. Balloon Fest participants take to the air above Bulldog Field. And the Monday parade—the state’s largest 4th of July parade—offers plenty of bands and candy-distributing floats.

But the centerpiece is Saturday night’s Stadium of Fire, with headliner Carrie Underwood performing before the pyrotechnics light up the night sky. Fly your red-blooded, true-blue colors.

America’s Freedom Festival @ various Utah Valley locations, July 2, 3 & 5. Stadium of Fire @ Lavell Edwards Stadium, July 3, 8 p.m., $30-$120. FreedomFestival.org for full schedule.
