Antichrist
A therapist (Willem Defoe) and his wife (Charlotte Gainsbourg) go on a retreat in the forest after their son’s death to reflect—then director Lars Von Trier throws in some genital mutilation. It’s the feel-ouch! hit of the season. (IFC Films)

Californication: Season 3
Writer Hank (David Duchovny) takes a gig teaching at a college—because who wouldn’t hire an infamous alcoholic poonhound to mentor young girls? S3 also features Rick Springfield as Evil Rick Springfield. Best show ever. (Paramount)

Charlie St. Cloud
Small-town golden boy Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) has it all, then loses it all instantly—not unlike a High School Musical superstar reduced to questionable roles and haircuts in sub-Hallmark B-movies. (Universal)

Grown Ups
Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Chris Rock star in the career-ending film for Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Chris Rock—if there were any justice. There isn’t. (Sony)

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
A lovestruck geek (Michael Cera—who else?) must battle all of his new crush’s exes to win her heart and provide mind-blowing special effects for what’s otherwise simply another Michael Cera Romantic Comedy. (Universal)
