Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour

MONDAY 2.22

For the 34th year, thousands of high-adventure movies are screened in Banff, Alberta, Canada, then whittled down to the finest films worthy of worldwide wandering. Those films are packed up and peered at by oohing and ahhing audiences who love to live vicariously: Kayakers throw themselves off 40-foot waterfalls. Rock climbers ascend to places never touched by human hands—also, at times, dropping 40 feet in the process ... damned gravity. Other activities, like hardcore off-road unicycling, will just leave you scratching your beard.

No matter your level of affection for the extreme, there’s something to marvel at, including the lush National Geographic-esque footage.

Some movies track far-reaching cultures and unseen landscapes. Check out one or all three evenings, each showing at least six films, ranging from four minutes to half an hour in length.

Overall, these athletes and filmmakers push the limits of art, cinematography, sports … and gravity.
