It is a high irony that City Weekly chose to publish John Rasmuson’s opinion piece about all the “bad news” inflicted upon us by our local television stations [“Bad News,” July 21, City Weekly].
The gist of the opinion piece was that “[t]here is not enough time for the inconsequential,” and that we would all much prefer more “engaging, substantive stories.”
This, in an issue featuring on its front page the promise that Utah’s Coldest Beer would be named, followed by no fewer than 12 full pages listing to within one-tenth of one degree the temperature at which beer is served in Salt Lake City’s bars and restaurants?
Television news cannot hope to compete with you in the banality of your own news coverage.
