This weekend, take part in a charity fashion show to help the House of Hope, which helps those swallowed up by substance-abuse addictions. You can also take part in a 5K run/walk to raise awareness and funding for promoting healthy relationships. Later on, Draper residents will want to swing by for a budget hearing to see how their tax money is getting spent.

Miche Fearless Fashion Show
Friday, May 30

Miche—a local maker of fine and fancy handbags and purses—will be holding a fashion show fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds going to House of Hope, a nonprofit in Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden that offers substance-abuse treatment, housing, education and other services. See how fashionable hope can be at this event, which will include refreshments and a raffle. The price of admission is one unopened, full-size personal care item.

Stepping Up to Healthy Relationships 5K
Saturday, May 31

Take a stand against dating violence at a 5K in support of healthy relationships. The Utah PTA is coordinating the event and is looking for some conscientious joggers to hit the track to help raise funds for treatment and promotion of safe relationships. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for teens and will include music and refreshments.

Draper City Budget Hearing
Tuesday, June 3

Draper residents can beat the heat this week by ducking into an air- conditioned municipal budget hearing to see how the city plans to spend their money for the coming fiscal year. The hearing will also consider the proposed budget for the Redevelopment Agency and the Municipal Building Authority.
