Smith’s Food & Drug has up teamed with Joffee’s Coffees, a premium private-label roasting company, to benefit the Utah Food Bank. Each bag of Joffee’s Coffee sold will generate a donation that will allow the Utah Food Bank to buy a half-gallon of milk, a dozen eggs and a loaf of bread. Joffee’s Coffees created roasts exclusively for Utah Food Bank—Hunger’s End Blend (dark), Do-Gooder Decaf (decaf), Grounds For Hope (medium) and Café Kindness (light)—that will be available for purchase at all Utah Smith’s locations. “We are very excited about this collaboration with Smith’s Food & Drug that will benefit the Utah Food Bank. Our goal is to create ongoing, revenue-producing philanthropic programs that follow our ‘Coffees for a Cause’ mission,” says Jeff Burkley, president of Joffee’s Coffees U.S. operations. “As we continue to see increased need for food among Utah families, it is this type of partnership that will be instrumental in helping fight hunger,” adds Karen Sendelback, CEO of Utah Food Bank. In addition to being sold statewide at Smith’s, Joffee’s Coffees will be available for a limited time at several cafes along the Wasatch Front including Citris Grill, Tin Angel Café, Carlucci’s Bakery and Rocky Mountain Grill.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Meditrina Small Plates & Wine Bar will host a food & wine social featuring the wines of Judd’s Hill Winery, along with four specially created food pairings. Located in Napa Valley, Judd’s Hill produces world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. In attendance for the Meditrina social will be winemaker Judd Finkelstein, who is one of the most entertaining and informative wine experts I’ve ever met—and a great guy, to boot.
