Not every profession’s stars can double as runway models. Athletes might limp; strippers might disrobe. Tall, graceful ballet dancers, however, are perfect. The third fashion foray by Ballet West and its collaborating partner—Park City-based pop-up (mobile) fashion boutique Farasha—Couture in Motion is a regal affair for a good cause.

The VIP cocktail hour—for those with an all-access pass—provides the chance to chat with Artistic Director Adam Sklute and the principal dancers. The fashion show follows, with the runway flanked by two private jets, no less. An all-white airplane hangar backdrops the “Jet Set” theme, which conjures a Jackie O-meets-1960s-Pan-Am-commercial vibe. Members of Ballet West’s training company, Ballet West II, model 60 fashions, including local designers McKell Maddox and Roberto Leone.

Local artists and designers will showcase their creativity in the “Fantasy Tutu” and “Shoe-In” competitions, demonstrating how unique “normal” ballet accessories can be. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Ballet West’s community- and academic-outreach program.

Couture in Motion @ Million Air Hangar 8, 535 N. 2300 West, April 30, pre-show party 6 p.m., fashion show 8 p.m., all-access pass $100, fan of fashion pass $40. BalletWest.org
