If you’ve picked up or read online this week’s paper early enough, you might still have time to enjoy the second annual Party on the Boulevard in Layton. It’s a celebration of locally owned, independent restaurants, along with live music by Flew the Coop, a classic car show, local art and more. Participating restaurants in this year’s Party on the Boulevard include Rooster’s Brewing Co., Corbin’s Grille, Holy Smoke BBQ and Grill, MacCool’s Public House, Rovali’s Italian Restaurant, Guadalajara’s Mexican Grill, and Osaka Sushi Bar. The party takes place on Thursday, May 22, 6-9 p.m. at Heritage Park Boulevard, directly across from the Hilton Garden Inn and Davis County Conference Center. The boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic; admission and parking is free. PartyOnTheBoulevard.com

Savor the Summit, Park City’s summer wine & jazz festival, takes place on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21. This year’s Savor the Summit will feature The Grande Table, a dinner table running down the middle of Main Street, and The Grande Picnic in City Park, including prizes for the best decorated picnic plots. All right, I know this is antithetical to Utah-style dining, where food portions must overlap the large plates they’re served on or else customers feel cheated. Kudos, then, to Mimi’s Café for introducing a little portion-size sanity into its new lunch menu. Mimi’s is featuring a new “Just Enough” lunch menu, which includes lunch-size portions of dinner favorites as well as new items aimed at fulfilling customers’ requests for full-flavored food, but smaller portions. The Just Enough menu items are priced from $7.99-$8.99 and include a chicken, fruit and baby greens salad; pasta primavera; a Greek chicken bowl; blackened-chicken Caesar wrap; pasta jambalaya; and a Just Enough-size portion of Mimi’s meatloaf.
