So, Michelle Facer Baguley thinks she’s breaking new ground running for office by not raising any money [“Not a Dime,” April 5, City Weekly]. Well, in just about any other race, in any other place, I’d say she was.
But in right-wing, strongly LDS and Republican Herriman, where they easily elected a guy whose most memorable piece of legislation was one giving Utah a “state gun,” I don’t think this is much of a trick. All she has to do is get out of the Republican County Convention, and she’s a shoo-in. Everyone there doesn’t spend much time thinking about who they are voting for or why—they just vote a straight Republican ticket.
I’d be surprised if she didn’t win in that part of the valley.
