The Revolt is always happy to let folks in Activismland know about unique volunteer opportunities. Every month, every week or every day, help is needed sometime—such as right now, when volunteers are needed every weekend to help food-stamp recipients purchase tokens for buying fresh produce at the farmers market. On the more festive side, however, you will want to check out the Juneteenth celebration this weekend as well as a great American Indian film screening.

Downtown Farmers Market
Saturdays, June 13-Oct. 17
There’s nothing like summer community service. It does a body good, like biting into a fresh apple. So why not get a little vitamin Activism by volunteering at the Downtown Farmers Market? After a short training session, you can help food-stamp recipients get tokens for the purchase of good local, organic fare.

The event is a potluck lunch open to all who feel like celebrating some of our country’s most pivotal landmark moments in civil-rights history.
