Funny Women at the Egyptian

Friday Jan. 7-Saturday Jan. 8 @ Egyptian Theatre

It was more than 30 years ago that, according to a show-biz anecdote, then-Saturday Night Live cast member John Belushi said, “Women aren’t funny.” That notion would sound like a relic of a less-enlightened time if it didn’t seem that comedy clubs and comedy movies are headlined overwhelmingly by men. Culturally, we still don’t seem to give women the permission to be daring, challenging, abrasive and, yes, funny.

If you don’t subscribe to that point of view, come up and support a showcase of p funny women at Park City’s Egyptian Theatre. Local Park City comedian Kathleen McCann serves as emcee for an evening featuring two national distaff standouts. Fia Perera writes plays when she’s not performing around the country, and headliner Dava Krause—a regular on the TV series House—adds a little rock & roll to her comedy. Catch their comedic sensibility on their joint project at, then see the female funny live.

Funny Women at the Egyptian @ Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main, Park City, 435-649-9371, Jan. 7-8, 8:30 p.m., $18-$25.
