Murray City’s part of the trail is the nicest. I wish West Valley City would do some more work on its part.
The river is much cleaner than it was when we were kids. We used to spend a good deal of time swimming and fishing at the river from about the age of 9 to 15. In the summers, when we were out of school, my mother would make us a lunch so we could take off on our bikes in the morning and spend the whole day at the river. We just had to make sure we were back for dinner at 4 when my dad got home from the mine. We always went south off of 9000 South, so we didn’t have to swim in the crap the fur breeders were dumping in the river.
I always joke around and tell people that with all the swimming I did in the Jordan River as well as the ponds at the Midvale Smelter, I should probably glow in the dark.
Riding bikes on the Jordan River Parkway always brings back many good memories.
