In & Out

It’s too easy to set up a competition between artists who visit here and those who live here: touring companies vs. local theater, touring art exhibits vs. home-grown talent. But art, like life, flourishes when a little cross-pollination takes place. And The Sugar Space for the Arts is offering a place for that to happen.

In & Out arrives as the first installment in what is intended as an annual spring event, pairing an out-of-town artist with one who works locally. This week, New York City-based performance artist Regina Rocke teams up with local choreographer Ashley Anderson. Rocke’s work has appeared at venues including the American Dance Festival and the Austrian Cultural Forum; Anderson’s recently appeared in Sugar Space’s Suite and at performances in Philadelphia and New York. Come see what happens when one evening of work gives their artistic vibes a chance to mingle.

In & Out @ Sugar Space for the Arts, 616 Wilmington Ave. (2190 South), 801- 558-3522, May 20-22, 8 p.m. $10-$12.
