John Swallow Should Resign

by

comment

Over the past several weeks, numerous allegations have been leveled against Attorney General John Swallow, including, most prominently, his alleged role in a scheme to bribe Sen. Harry Reid. This was followed by an imputation by three Utah businessmen who claim that Swallow offered them protection in exchange for contributions to then-Attorney General Mark Shurtleff’s campaign fund.

Swallow denies any wrongdoing, though the evidence is overwhelming.

This level of corruption is not only morally reprehensible (and reminiscent of the Tammany Hall era), it is also a stain on the reputation of the Attorney General’s Office and the State of Utah—a stain that will remain as long as Swallow is in office.

Therefore, I urge him to do the honorable thing and resign immediately.
