Later, No One Will Care

I thank your Hits & Misses column for its watchful eye on Utah politics. Recently, Katharine Biele slammed the Salt Lake City Council for following through on its partnership with the Leonardo, the art-culture-science center at Library Square [“Can You Spare a Mil?” July 28, City Weekly]. But she lacks historical perspective.

It typically takes 10 years, and awkward growing pains, for public-private museums to start up. And in the long view, no one will care that the Leonardo opened late. It will be a cherished part of an incredible public space making all Salt Lakers proud.
