According to Jules Verne’s calculations back in 1873, it should take approximately 80 days to circumnavigate the globe. The schedule, starting from jolly ol’ England, is as follows: Get yourself to Suez in seven days, then on to Bombay in 13 more. Travel to Calcutta by rail in three and Hong Kong by steamer in another 13. Six more days to Yokohama and then the drudgery of a Pacific crossing to San Francisco in 22. One week to span this continent, and then cross the Atlantic and a quick train back to London.

For their part, M&P’s hilarious version of those events is much quicker—around 90 farce-filled minutes. Translated into an English-language romp, this retelling of Around the World in 80 Days will be the American premiere of a hilarious French adaptation by Sebastien Azzopardi and Sacha Danino—which has been selling out theatres in Paris for nearly five years.
