Recently, our national Congress was on recess, even though there were a plethora of national issues that needed to be addressed. They needed time to reconnect with their constituents. However, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, failed to have a town-hall meeting so he could report to the voters on the issues that we face, and 2nd District Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, had a meeting elsewhere in his district but not in Salt Lake County.
Our congressmen and senators should be required to have a town-hall meeting with voters during times that they’re not in session. If they can’t meet this minimum requirement of constituent involvement, then it should trigger a recall election.
