Men’s Basketball: BYU at Utah

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament has become the most beloved sporting event of the year besides the Super Bowl, but the cost of creating “March Madness” has been rendering the regular season largely irrelevant. For example, BYU vs. Utah is set for a Wednesday night, with no serious TV coverage. Win or lose, nationally ranked BYU will be in the NCAA tournament. Win or lose, Utah still has to win the Mountain West Conference tournament in Las Vegas to get a tourney invite.

Nevertheless, the Utes ought to get geared up for this one, since it’s the last chance to beat the Cougars this scholastic year. Utah fans have already endured a loss at BYU in the first matchup of these two squads, as well as the football loss and Max Hall denouncing the morality of anyone wearing red. If the Utes want to mess with the Cougs’ heads, they should follow the example of Rod Smith of the ill-fated XFL and have “He Hate Me” printed on the back of every uniform.
