Is withholding information from missionaries detrimental to their health & safety?
To remain spiritually pure, our brothers and sisters are not allowed to watch television, read magazines, newspapers and books and are required to listen only to uplifting music like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I am not, of course, suggesting that our missionaries become religious Manchurian candidates, but there is vital information such as advanced warnings of hurricanes, earthquakes, insurrections, wars and epidemics that must be made available to missionaries in a timely manner. The military phrase “forewarned is forearmed” probably doesn’t apply, but the Boy Scout motto of always be prepared is certainly apropos. Missionaries should be instructed to listen to the news on the radio and television to plan for any dangerous events before they start their daily rounds.
