Prior to its demonization, President Kennedy in 1960 defined the word “liberal” this way: “[a liberal is] someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people—their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties.” Today’s talk-radio hosts have this denigrated definition: “[a liberal is] an immoral person who is soft in his policies abroad, against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer’s dollar.”
Today’s extremists have cleverly transferred the passions of anticommunism into an internal war against those whom they have deemed the enemies of American culture and values. And these people (the liberals, aka Democrats) are their very own friends, neighbors and relatives.
