There are many ways to turn a theater piece into an experience that sticks with viewers. One is to touch on a universal theme. Another is to turn the audience members into active participants in the process. A new, original production by three local writers—free and open to the public—does both.
In Not Responsible, playwrights Rob Luckau, Candace Christensen and George Klein explore the events surrounding a college student named Sam (Melissa Cecala), whose visit to a campus party turns into an encounter with sexual violence. That subject matter could be powerful enough, but the post-production Q&A sessions will involve the cast members responding in character to feedback from the audience. As organizations recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, explore some of the dark psychic territory that comes along with it.
