At an early age, I enjoyed drawing. My parents noticed that I had a talent, and would enter my pictures into children’s contests. I began drawing portraits at age eight; I was doing oil paintings at age ten. When I was 12, I won the Indiana State Championship for oil painting in my age category. I largely gave up on creating art for about 30 years. An art class re-awoke my interest in art. What I discovered was that creating art gave me the creative outlet that was lacking in my life.
