Dig into the nacho plate after hitting the slopes

It’s easy to develop a ravenous appetite after spending an entire day tearing up the slopes in Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon. And that hunger can be sated at Porcupine Pub & Grille. This eating destination, conveniently located at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, is ideal for those departing the canyon in need of warm food, a homey environment and good local beer.

If there’s one dish that may be most popular with the Porcupine crowd, it’s the piled-high nacho plate. It’s served as an appetizer, but can easily become a meal. The tall stack of blue- and white-corn tortilla chips comes loaded with cheese, and an avalanche of guacamole, salsa, sour cream, jalapeños and diced tomatoes spills down the jagged edges. Ultimately, it resembles a mountain peak covered with melting snow, just waiting to be conquered. Let’s face it: Nachos are nachos, but this plate takes it to the next level.

If you decide to attempt the tantalizing layers of toppings—don’t fear the mess it could create on your face—a side of black beans or chicken can be added to further the epic nacho adventure. And nothing pairs better with these festive nachos than one of Porcupine’s 24 beers featured on tap, such as Moab Dead Horse Amber Ale or Park City Steamer.

Porcupine Pub & Grille offers more than just finger food, with a variety of favorites that includes the Big Cottonwood Burger, the smothered black-bean burrito and new menu items that are featured daily. The combination of housemade food, a cozy cabin feel and ideal location makes Porcupine Pub & Grille one of the best “after the slopes” dining destinations.
