Provo
If you’ve never heard of the Provo Bar Crawl, that’s because there isn’t one. The home of Brigham Young University boasts a mere two bars. However, when in need of a cold one, they are oases in the deseret—er, desert.

41.2 ABG’s Libation Emporium
A. Beuford Gifford’s Libation Emporium serves a bevy of beverages to a thirsty crowd who comes to enjoy a brew while seated at the steel-topped bar, play pool or dig some local bands on Fridays. Though the bar is named after A. Beuford Gifford, a fictitious character, the bartender says some regulars “know him.” Perhaps there’s a little of him in all of us. 190 W. Center St., Provo, 801-373-1200, ABGsBar.com

42.0 City Limits Tavern
City Limits Tavern’s old-timey front opens to a dim interior, where locals are always watching—pastel renderings of them hang above the bar. A now-deceased patron made the sketches more than a decade ago for anyone who bought him a half-pitcher. Currently, City Limits is decorating the ceilings, and anything customers bring in is fair game. 440 W. Center, Provo, 801-374-2337
