Unlimited Indian
Ever since India Unlimited in Lamplighter Square went out of business, I’ve had trouble finding my favorite ingredients for cooking Indian cuisine at home. So, I was happy to hear of the opening a new, 6,000-square-foot market specializing in foods and ingredients from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Burma, Bhutan, Europe, Iran, the Middle-East, Africa, Bangladesh, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Southeast Asian countries. It’s called Qaderi Sweetz ’n’ Spicez and is located at 1785 S. State in Salt Lake City (it’s the second location; the first is at 3546 S. Redwood Road). It has everything from halal and vegetarian offerings to incense, Indian cookware, imported teas and coffees, hundreds of spices, fresh breads like poori and naan, and even Bollywood videos. Phone 801-484-0265 for more information.

Float Food
On July 25, Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas opens an interesting new eatery: one that floats. Latitude 37 will be located on the water at Wahweap Marina and takes full advantage of the scenic natural beauty of Lake Powell, with seating for 50 inside and a rooftop balcony that will offer spectacular views of Wahweap Bay, Castle Rock and Navajo Mountain. Chef Matt Smith’s Latitude 37 menu features selections such as smoked-brisket nachos, a black & blue chicken burger and a smoky Southwest Portobello mushroom sandwich. A wide variety of fresh-made milkshakes will also be offered, along with cocktails. Latitude 37 is accessible from both the land and water and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For more information or reservations, visit LakePowell.com or call 888-896-3829.

Canyons Cocktails
Each Thursday, The Farm restaurant at Canyons Resort (4000 Navajo Trail, Park City) will host an event called Crafted Cocktails at The Farm Restaurant. The art of modern and classic mixology will be showcased with one classic and one contemporary specialty cocktail sampled. Guests must be 21 or older and the cost is $20 per person.
