Samba Fogo

When: Fri., Jan. 9, 8 p.m. 2015

Drawing on rich Afro-Brazilian traditions and mythology, samba fogo fuses Afro-Brazilian dance, live music and martial arts with contemporary dance and fire dance. The result is a unique, exciting, and culturally rich audience experience. In 2012 alone, Samba Fogo sold out Salt Lake City’s 550-seat Jeanne Wagner Theatre of the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, headlined at the Utah Arts Festival, the Salem Worldbeat Festival in Salem, OR, the Utah Brazilian Festival and the University of Utah International Night, and performed at widely attended events such as the Utah Special Olympics, the Utah PRIDE Celebration, and Utah Percussive Arts Society's Annual Day of Percussion. Samba Fogo also maintains a strong connection to the Salt Lake community, teaching Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian music and dance to youth and adults throughout Utah and the western United States. Samba Fogo is available for performances and educational residencies in your city. Email for more information. Samba Fogo's high-energy performances and educational programming offer participants a chance to experience the deep-rooted culture, infectious enthusiasm, and celebratory spirit that makes Brazil famous.
