What’s the most shameful thing your generation has done?

Julie Erickson: Voted George W. Bush into office a second term.

Nick Clark: I blame my generation for not speaking up or speaking out about where the older generations have led us.

Ted Scheffler: To have quietly let the war in Iraq take place, without much of a whimper.

Stephen Dark: I remember witnessing the years of the Bosnian conflict from London and feeling a burning shame that neither the British government nor other European politicians would do more than thunder toothless rhetoric while the images of ethnic cleansing and slaughter, in particular the daily horror of Saravejo’s siege, dominated the media.

Scott Renshaw: Cede all the voting power to the generation that came before us, obliging us to pay for their unwillingness to sacrifice anything.

Jesse Fruhwirth: My generation has largely acquiesced to the corrosion of our systems wrought by the crony-capitalist, military-industrial complex we inherited.

Jerre Wroble: My generation believed it could change the world. We protested the Vietnam War and helped bring the troops home. But we didn’t organize to stop the invasion of Iraq, and we’re still in Afghanistan. Does every generation need to fight a foreign war that doesn’t make sense?
