Spy Hop REEL Stories Premiere

Spy Hop Productions presents the premiere of 10 short non-fiction films from REEL Stories, a four-month, intensive Documentary Arts Program workshop in which students learn the basics of non-fiction film making and then have the individual opportunity to produce a five-minute short on topics of their choosing. Now, the local community gets a chance to view their work.

This year’s films feature a curiously wide and impressive range of subject matter produced by 10 high school students who have completed the program, covering serious, contemplative and/or comical topics. Past pieces have explored issues of femininity, mental illness and coming of age in different cultures, whereas this year’s focus on themes such as the country’s economic recession, the life of a local gay teen, the world’s largest marble collection and a student’s undiagnosed disease. Come see the REEL Stories Premiere and experience the talent and imagination present in Salt Lake City’s youth community.
