March Against Monsanto Saturday



This weekend, join activists rallying at the Utah Capitol against agribusiness giant Monsanto, which has garnered special protections through a bill recently signed into law by President Barack Obama. Also, learn more about the autism epidemic in Utah at a family-fun day held at Westminster College, where there will be activities and information about autism in Utah. Later, get signed up for a unique seminar put on by the YWCA about how to raise children to avoid violence.

Bio-tech behemoth Monsanto is infamous for pushing for genetically modified crops, and in March, President Barack Obama signed off on the Farmer Assurance Provision, which critics have dubbed the Monsanto Protection Act. The legislation gives the major company perks that include, critics say, the ability to plant genetically modified crops before they’ve been reviewed as safe by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Peaceabilities Seminar

Having world peace tomorrow starts with peace at home, right now. That’s why the YWCA has teamed up with Brigham Young University professor Bonnie Ballif-Spanvill and Claudia Clayton to offer a seminar on their Peaceabilities program, which teaches children peaceful problem-solving skills through stories and games.
