Sundays @ 7: Faculty Spotlight Vedrana Subotic, piano, with Claude Halter, violin & Anne Lee, cello

When: Sun., Feb. 8, 7-8 p.m. 2015

Faculty pianist Vedrana Subotic continues her Beethoven cycle with performances of piano trios opus 11 and 97, both in B-flat major, with violinist Claude Halter and cellist Anne Lee. The opus 11 trio is nicknamed "Gassenhauer (Street Song) Trio" because of its cheerful third movement, which is based on a popular tune; The Opus 97 “Archduke” trio was dedicated to the Archduke Rudolph of Austria, who was Beethoven's patron, student, and friend. This work, on par with the late string quartets, encompasses all the complexity of the great composer’s final period.
