Sundays@7 Faculty Showcase Hasse Borup & Kasia Sokol, violins

When: Sun., Oct. 5, 7:30-9 p.m. 2014

Hasse Borup and Kasia Sokol-Borup explore works for two violins from the Baroque to the modern. Their concert features Prokofiev’s mesmerizing Sonata for Two Violins, Leclair’s Sonata for Two Violins Op. 2 No. 6, and Spohr’s virtuosic Gran Duo for Two Violins Op. 3 No. 1. Bartók’s 44 Duos for Two Violins combine Eastern European folk themes with inventive and sparkling harmonies in a series of evocative miniatures such as “Burlesque,” “Fairy Tale” and “Rumanian Whirling Dance.”
