Veterans of the early punk rock scene, if they didn’t burn out or fade away, invariably have fascinating stories to tell. Tesco Vee—born Robert Vermeulen—not only started one of the key middle-America punk bands, the Meatmen, but also founded the Touch & Go punk zine, which later evolved into the seminal indie record label with the same name. Legendary groups Butthole Surfers, Jesus Lizard and TV on the Radio were first heard on the imprint.

Touch and Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine ‘79-’83 compiles every issue of the zine, and Vee will be reading from it and doing a Q&A session on every conceivable topic from zine/band lore and record-label dealings to punk-rock life on the road for a band fueled as much by humor as anger. Reuniting the band that broke up in 1996, Tesco takes the stage with the Meatmen at Burt’s Tiki Lounge later that night.
