The brainchild of Utah Artist Hands gallery owner Pam O’Mara, the Artful Cup is a sweet little enterprise that grew out of a creative solution to help both the gallery and Caffé Molise expand their businesses. In short, they knocked down a wall between them and created a daytime coffee café that turns into a nighttime space for overflow or private dining for Molise.
So many details add up to making the Artful Cup a favorite new destination for a java fix. O’Mara brews only locally roasted Rimini organic and fair-trade coffees, as well as Rimini’s spicy custom-blended chai. And, she makes a heavenly latte. Sweets include “Miss Aimee’s Slap Yo Momma” dense chocolate cake from Caffe Molise; locally made, coconut-rich, gluten-free “Magic Cookie Bars”; and Nonni’s Biscotti As the name implies, every square inch of the space is about art—from original paintings of all sizes to fanciful pottery. Drinks “to stay” are served in handmade espresso cups and saucers or hefty coffee mugs. You can even buy a coffee mug and store it there with your name on it for private use. It’s kind of like a wine locker arrangement, only more affordable. While you’re there, check out the wild and crazy teapots for sale by potter Ben Behunin.
