
A story in The Salt Lake Tribune identified a Utah couple who were seeking donations for an expensive stem-cell treatment for their infant daughter. The couple can only get the treatment for their daughter in China because of regulations in the United States. The treatment will also mean raising at least $65,000 through private donations (HelpKenideeSeeHisCreations.com). City Weekly asked Canace Pulfer of the Aerolab Salon downtown if she thought people should have to travel to China for such treatments:

No, absolutely not. Hell, no. If we’re one of the most advanced countries in the world, medically, scientifically and in every aspect, then, hell, no—we should be able to get that treatment here. And it should be covered by insurance or some social medical program.
