Chris Brozek, co-owner of the 300 South record store Slowtrain, is new to Salt Lake City, so he’s a bit more optimistic about local politics than many of Utah’s longtime liberals. He is not, however, alone in his excitement about the shift in power on a national level. In a sea of red, the blue is beginning to pop through.

I’m disappointed Pete Ashdown didn’t make it. I thought it was a long shot until Election Night when it looked like he was up 15 percent. As far as the presidential election is concerned, it depends on who the Democrats support. If it’s Hillary, the country might not be ready for a female president. I would enjoy that [having her in office]. I think we’re looking for change, and that’s a drastic change. Of course, I’d have to look at her policies.
