Tiburon garden
According to Ken Rose of Tiburon restaurant in Sandy, the entire Tiburon staff spent a morning planting a quarter-acre “all-natural” garden, with 12 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, three types of fresh peas, five varieties of fresh garlic, red, golden and candy cane beets, 50 fresh basil plants, loads of herbs, chile peppers and lots more—all of which customers will get to enjoy on their dinner plates at Tiburon. Epic @ Metro
Metropolitan’s Karen Olson was so impressed with Epic Brewery’s operation and beers that she’s teamed up with the brewery for a special one-off beer dinner at her restaurant. Here’s the scoop: On Friday, June 4, Metropolitan will host a reception and dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. The five-course dinner will feature six Epic brews, and head brewer Kevin Crompton and co-owner Dave Cole will be on hand to “describe the technique and passion behind Epic.” The cost is $55 for food and $25 for the beers, per person. Sounds like an epic evening to me. For reservations, phone 801-364-3472. Metropolitan is located at 173 W. Broadway. TheMetropolitan.com.
Beat the Clock
At Zucca Trattoria in South Ogden, customers are invited to beat the clock every evening from 5 to 6 p.m. Here’s the deal: Order from Zucca’s special “beat the clock” menu from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., choosing from a selection of fresh salads, pizzas and pastas, including Margherita pizza, gnocchi al pesto and Caesar salad. The earlier you place your order, the lower the price you’ll pay. That is, if you place your order at 5:05 p.m., you’ll be charged $5.05. Order at 5:50 p.m. and you’ll pay $5.50. Sounds like fun, although I wouldn’t want to be a Zucca server at approximately 5:02 p.m. … I’m just sayin.’ Zucca Trattoria is located in South Ogden at 1479 E. 5600 South. Phone 801-474-7077 for reservations or visit online at MyZucca.com.
