I happened to pick up a copy of this week’s City Weekly for the first time in a few months. I was absolutely blown away with the honesty of Ryan Cunningham’s piece [“So Your Brain Wants You Dead,” May 8, City Weekly] and the courage that it took for him to “come out” about his mental illness.

I know he said he didn’t feel courageous, but when we are compelled to tell and live our truth, it is the bravest thing we can do, whether we recognize it or not.

His piece touched me at my core, and I applaud City Weekly for printing it.
