Underground Dining
One of the more interesting dining experiences in town is one I’ll bet you’ve never been to. That’s because it’s an invitation-only affair. But don’t despair. You’re on the guest list. Or at least, you could be. By Invitation Only is a monthly dinner series hosted at varying “secret” locations by host and chef Justin Kinnaird. The location of each month’s dressy, no-jeans dinner is a surprise—guests usually learn of the address only one day prior to the event. So, all I can really tell you about this month’s By Invitation Only dinner parties is that they will be held on Feb. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. and that they cost $75 per person, plus tax and service. If you’d like to be informed of upcoming By Invitation Only events, including this one, simply e-mail byinvitationonlyslcut@hotmail.com and you’ll be invited!

A Super Bowl of Veggie Chili
Logan resident and amateur cook Paula Zsiray was recently selected for the best vegetarian chili in the February issue of Woman’s Day magazine. Her Meatless Chili recipe was chosen as the best vegetarian chili in the annual Woman’s Day Chili Cook-Off. Zsiray first created her Meatless Chili 20 years ago for her son’s Cub Scout troop’s chili fundraiser, and it’s been a hit ever since. One of the secret weapons is wheat berries. To see the complete story and recipe, visit WomansDay.com. It would make a terrific Super Bowl Sunday chili.

Italy at Lugano
On Feb. 14, Lugano Restaurant (3364 S. 2300 East) will offer a special Festa de San Valentino five-course tasting menu for $59 for Valentine’s Day, along with specially selected wine pairings for optional $39. Prior to that, on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m., Lugano owner-chef Greg Neville and special guests Michele Gianazza and Diego Bosoni will host a wine dinner featuring the wines of Cantine Lunae of Liguria, Italy. The six-course dinner is $59 per person, with five optional wine pairings for an additional $39. Call 801-412-9994 for reservations.
