Enter the words “Utah Blaze” into a Google search, and the first link that pops up is a Ken Garff Automotive Group page letting you know in no uncertain terms that the former owners of the team no longer have any affiliation with the franchise, or the now-defunct Arena Football League, which shut down operation in 2009 and eventually had to file for bankruptcy. The entire league—including all names, logos and trademarks—was packaged for a new entity called Arena Football One, which has since changed its name to Arena Football League.

But that’s all lawyer stuff. The important thing is that Salt Lake City football fans don’t have to spend springtime focused on Utah and BYU spring football or the upcoming NFL draft, or—God forbid—getting re-acquainted with their families. Football is here again on Friday night. What more do we need to say?

Maybe this, for non-football fans: Former American Idol finalist, local resident and general teen heartthrob David Archuleta is the halftime entertainment.
