Yes, I know the Butter Cow’s got a posse, but personally, I’m in it for the pig races. Contestants in the Ham Bone Express piglet-racing show include Swynonna Judd, Arnold Schwarzenpigger and Jean-Claude Van Ham.

Oh, the Utah State Fair has serious events, too: livestock judging, arts & crafts exhibits, rodeos and musical entertainment, including the Country Music Hall of Fame-worthy stylings of Ray Price and the honeyed vocal harmonies of Boyz II Men.

But, it’s really all about the pigs, isn’t it? And not just those of the porcine persuasion—opportunities for gustatory gluttony include the Sept. 13 ice cream festival and the Sept. 17 Beef Feast. Yum-a-nums!

Utah State Fair @ Utah State Fairpark, 155 N. 1000 West, Sept. 9-19, Sunday-Thursday 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday & Saturday 10 a.m.-11 p.m., adults $9, ages 6-12 & 62 $7, children under 5 free. Utah-State-Fair.com
