Crossroads Fundraiser
The Crossroads Urban Center, which works to help the underserved by providing emergency food, diapers, infant formula and clothing to those in need, will host its ninth-annual Wine & Cheese Benefit Party at The Bayou on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 1-4 p.m. Wine, nonalcoholic beverages, gourmet cheeses, assorted breads and fresh fruit will be served, and the local band Controlled Burn will perform. Tickets cost $45 per person, and all proceeds benefit Crossroads Urban Center. “Crossroads works to address the root causes of poverty and injustice, not merely the symptoms. This means we must make an unwavering commitment to organizing the community and involving people in the decisions that affect their lives and impact their ability to be self-sufficient,” says Glenn Bailey, the center’s executive director. “The Wine & Cheese Party is a great chance to have fun and support valuable community services for those in need.” In addition to The Bayou, Tony Caputo’s Market & Deli, Kiler Grove Winegrowers and Harmons are donating food and wine for the event.
