Winter Clothing Drive
Ongoing Oct. 22-26
The International Rescue Committee is hosting an annual winter clothing drive to help out the more than 25,000 refugees who call Utah home. Many are still struggling to adapt to a new culture, learning English and finding work. Thus, any assistance is important, especially when it comes to donating gently used clothing to keep them warm this winter.

Cocktails for a Cause
Thursday, Oct. 22
The Planned Parenthood Action Council is holding its annual cocktail fundraiser at the Poplar Street Pub, with a focus this year on schools offering comprehensive sex-education to Utah students. Donations will help that campaign, as well as all of the other Planned Parenthood programs. The cocktail fundraiser will include a sexually-transmitted-diseases spelling bee. So, go to toast an effort to teach Utah’s kids that that the paths to responsible parenthood aren’t only abstinence— and try to spell ‘chlamydia’ after a third martini.
